GHS100k bail granted to pastor who allegedly threatened EC Boss.



The Accra High Court on June 23, 2020 has granted bail to Apostle Kwabena Owusu, who allegedly threatened the EC boss.

The court granted Apostle Kwabena Owusu bail of GHS100,000 and to provide 3 sureties, two of whom must be working in the public institutions who earn above GHS2,000.

Part of his bail conditions state that he must compulsory report to the Criminal Investigation Department on Mondays and Fridays.

He has spent two weeks in police custody.

Background of His arrest

Apostle Kwabena Owusu was arrested in the morning in June while granting a live interview to Accra based Hot FM for allegedly threatening to kill the chair person of the Electoral Commission if continued with plans to compile a new voters' register for the come December 2020 general election.

He was searched after his arrest and these were found on him, a black wallet containing GHS29, suspected aphrodisiac medicine labelled Mr. Q, a pack of brown smoking XL paper, two leaves suspect to be narcotic plants was revealed to the court.

The court has charged him with threat of death, illegal possession of narcotic plants and assault on public official. The case has been adjourned to July 12 2020
